The main purpose of the President’s Asia Scholarship is to support Asian international students to complete a Mechanical Engineering Diploma programme at Academia Higher Education Colleges.
Selection will be based on academic merit, financial need and demonstrated potential to succeed in engineering studies at Academia.
- Application is made to the International Admissions Office
- A Selection Committee assesses the applications
- Short-listed candidates may be required to participate in an interview (which may take place in the student’s home country or via video conference)
The Scholarships are awarded by the Academia Strategic Council on the recommendation of the Selection Committee.
All qualified application received before the end of the closing date will be considered for scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded based on merit at the sole discretion of the School.

Eligibility Criteria
1. All scholarship applicants must sign up as student in Scholarships2u.com. 2. Top International student from Asia. 3. Studying an equivalent to Slovenian Year 12 or IB in 2017. 4. Commencing a mechanical engineering program at Academia campus in Maribor, Slovenia. 5. Applicants shall submit certified true copy of their recent exam result upon request. 6. The Scholarships will be known as the President’s Asia Scholarships at Academia, College of Short-Cycle Higher Education Maribor.
Up to three Scholarships will be awarded for a period of up to two years and will cover the full tuition fees for international students who enrol full-time in a Mechanical Engineering Diploma Programme at the Academia
The Scholarships will be awarded to international undergraduate students from any country on the Asian continent.
The basis of selection will be academic merit in most recent year of secondary school education studies undertaken to date, demonstrated financial need and demonstrated potential to succeed in engineering studies
To continue to hold the Scholarship, recipients must maintain a GPA of 8.5 (equivalent to Merit) in each semester of study
The Scholarships will be awarded by the Academia Strategic Council on the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Principle of the Academia, College of Short-Cycle Higher Education (or nominee), the President, Academic Programmes (or nominee) and one Head of Department from the School of Engineering (or nominee).
The Scholarships will be paid as a tuition/compulsory fees credit over two years in two instalments per year, one in the first semester and one in the second semester.
The Academia Strategic Council has the power to terminate or suspend a Scholarship if it receives an unsatisfactory report on the progress of a Scholar from the Head of the Programme in which the recipient is enrolled.
Academia is not obliged to make an award of any or all of the Scholarships if in any year there is no candidate or candidates of sufficient merit.
Academia has the power to amend or vary these Regulations, in consultation with the Principle of Academia, College of Short-Cycle Higher Education Maribor of the, provided there is no departure from the main purpose of the Scholarship.
