Scholarship Types

While most scholarships are open to all students to apply, the recipient is most likely to fall under 1 of 4 categories.

Needs-based Scholarship

A scholarship to support students in need of financial aid.

Merit-based Scholarship

A scholarship awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance.

Sports Scholarship

A scholarship awarded to students based primarily on his or her athletic abilities and contribution to the institution.

Music Scholarship

A scholarship awarded to students based primarily on his or her musical talents. Mostly only available in Music founded institutions.

Whichever type of scholarships, the essential pre-requisite is that all students will need to undergo basic criteria which is to sit for the Scholarship Benchmark Test (SBT) as a first step. Once your details and test results are out, institutions will use this as a base to start with, and may then require additional information such as school reports, extra-curricular achievements, as well as income statements for needs-based scholarships.
