Presbyterian Ladies’ College

AUSTRALIA
About

Presbyterian Ladies’ College (PLC) Melbourne is one of Australia’s top independent schools, with an outstanding history of academic success. Students achieve top results establishing pathways to tertiary study in Australia and around the world. Many of our alumni occupy senior positions across almost every field of endeavour and PLC students were the first women to graduate from the prestigious University of Melbourne. Since that time, they have been at the forefront of medical research, literature, law and the arts, making a name for themselves as outstanding global citizens. In the 21st Century, PLC girls continue this standard of excellence. In 2016, 9.2% of PLC girls achieved a tertiary rank that placed them in the top 0.5% of students in Australia; 24% were placed in the top 2%; 50% in the top 5%; and 68% were placed in the top 10% of Australia. The median Australian Tertiary Entrance Rank (ATAR) was an astonishing 94.9%. All graduates qualified for a place in a tertiary institution, with over 80% gaining a first time offer to either the University of Melbourne or Monash University. Many girls received interstate or overseas university offers as well as university scholarships. PLC’s senior academic program offers students the choice of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or the International Baccalaureate (IB). When your daughter enters the Boarding House in the extensive and beautiful grounds of PLC Melbourne, she begins her own personal educational journey, following in the footsteps of hundreds of women around the world. In doing so, she joins PLC’s outstanding academic community whilst enjoying living in a happy, nurturing and supportive “home away from home”.
