Mason awards millions of dollars in scholarships to incoming freshmen every year. These awards not only recognize strong academic talent and achievement, but also special talents and other personal characteristics, without regard to an applicant’s financial need. We are committed to helping talented and ambitious international students like you achieve their goals of studying at George Mason University. Our top priority is to provide students with access to exceptional faculty and quality academic programs that help them grow as individuals, scholars, and career-ready professionals.
We award scholarships between $1,000 to $18,000 per program per qualified student.
All international students can apply for the scholarship and it is open to first-year undergraduate international students of all academic majors and fields of study, and it is applied to tuition costs. The most popular majors at George Mason University include: Psychology, General; Criminal Justice/Police Science; Information Technology; Accounting; and Biology/Biological Sciences.
Terms and Conditions
- All applications received before the end of the closing date will be considered for scholarships.
- Scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis until available scholarship funds have been exhausted.
- Scholarships will be awarded based on merit, at the sole discretion of the school.
- Any or all scholarship values published is an indicative value of the award and does not indicate the actual awards.
- Please note that all scholarships information and/or scholarships value in this list were correct at time of publication, however they are subject to change without notice.
- Submission of an application and meeting the minimum criteria does not automatically guarantee the applicant a scholarship.
- Recipients of George Mason Scholarships are required to have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 2.75 on a 4.00 grading scale to have the scholarship renewed for the next year.
- If you have lost your scholarship due to failure to meet GPA standards, you can appeal for reinstatement.
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- All applicants must register as students via Scholarship2u.com.
- All applicants must make an application via the Scholarships2u.com portal in order to qualify for the scholarship.
- Scholarship covers tuition fees only.
- Terms and conditions may apply.
- Applicants must submit a certified copy of their recent exam results upon request. (If your documents are in a language other than English, you must provide certified translations).
- Open to students aged 17 and above.
- Only available to full-time freshman international students
- Scholarships are awarded using a holistic review process. While GPA and test scores are the most important criteria, they are not the only criteria considered.
- In addition to overall admission requirements, some schools and colleges have individual requirements for acceptance into the major.
