Study Group pathway programs are specially designed, university-recognised courses that help you gain an academic and English language advantage, enabling you to meet the stringent entry requirements for leading US universities. 

The International Study Center (ISC) supports high-achieving international students who want to pursue a degree in the US.

ISC James Madison University offers scholarships for international students with a range of 10% - 30% from the total tuition fee per year.

Based on campus, the International Study Center supports your success as you begin your degree studies and adapt to life in the U.S.

The International Year program is up to a one-year credit-bearing pathway program, preparing you for success as you begin your undergraduate studies.

Pathway structure

During the program, you’ll study academic courses and develop strong study skills. At the same time, English language classes will boost your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

When you complete your International Year, you’ll continue your degree, alongside other students from the U.S. and all over the world. You can choose from nearly 50 different degree options in the arts, business, education and science.

The most popular majors at James Madison University include: Health Professions and Related Programs; Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs; Social Sciences; and Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities.

Terms and Conditions

  • All applications received before the end of the closing date will be considered for scholarships. 
  • Scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis until available scholarship funds have been exhausted. 
  • Scholarships will be awarded based on merit, at the sole discretion of the school. 
  • Any or all scholarship values published is an indicative value of the award and does not indicate the actual awards.
  • Please note that all scholarships information and/or scholarships value in this list were correct at time of publication, however they are subject to change without notice.
  • Submission of an application and meeting the minimum criteria does not automatically guarantee the applicant a scholarship.
  • All assistants must register each semester for all courses to be paid by tuition scholarship during the regular registration period, and prior to the tuition refund date outlined in the current Schedule of Classes.
  • Assistantships do not pay tuition for courses dropped after the university's tuition refund deadline. 
  • Assistantships are extremely competitive and require additional effort from your part to obtain an offer. 
  • Assistantships are subject to renewal each academic year.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. All applicants must register as students via Scholarship2u.com. 
  2. All applicants must make an application via the Scholarships2u.com portal in order to qualify for the scholarship. 
  3. Scholarship covers tuition fees only. 
  4. Terms and conditions may apply.
  5. Applicants must submit a certified copy of their recent exam results upon request. (If your documents are in a language other than English, you must provide certified translations).
  6. Open to students aged 17 and above.
  7. Minimum qualification for Pathway: IGCSE, SPM
  8. Minimum qualification for Direct Entry: A-Level, SPM, UEC, O-Level, STPM, or equivalent.
  9. English Language Requirement: 6.5 in IELTS (Academic Module)
  10. Original test score results of the ACT or SAT (optional maybe required for athletes).
  11. Students will be subjected to an interview and required to sit the college entrance tests.
  12. School Leaving Certificate
  13. Letter of Recommendation from School
  14. Other supporting documents e.g. resume, awards, portfolio etc.
  15. A photocopy of valid passport photography page
  16. A completed international student financial aid application.
  17. An essay written in English to include information describing who you are, your academic and extracurricular experiences and goals, and why you would like to study at this institution.
