IMPERIA was founded in 1995 by a group of professional estate agents to offer training and human resource development courses to the general public. It was also approved by the Selangor State Education Department for Certificate Courses under the name of “Centre for Continuing Development and Further Education” in October 1996. On 20th April 1998, it was further approved by the Department of Private Education, Ministry of Higher Education for Diploma Courses under the name of “Institute for Continuing Development and Further Education” (ICDFE). Academic collaborations and links with academic education institutions for twinning, franchise and credit transfer programmes have also been established. During the initial years, ICDFE operated from a double-storey shop office in Petaling Jaya Old Town. ICDFE took its first batch of 31 students in January 1997, to enrol for the Diploma in Estate Agency, a two-year programme examined and awarded by the Board of Valuers, Appraisers and the Estate Agents, Malaysia. ICDFE was also involved in areas of human resource training and development, courses such as competency-based training and seminars.
