Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) was founded in 1911 and has grown to become the second largest university in the state of Tennessee. The beautiful campus is located on 500 acres of flat greenway, almost like a park. Located in Murfreesboro, in the geographic center of Tennessee, MTSU offers a safe and friendly campus that is the university of choice for over 28,000 students, including over 1,500 international students representing more than 85 countries. We completely understand the importance of financial aid. For international students, you will find our fee structure a very attractive deal. For undergraduate students, tuition and room and board is $36,718 for an academic year. We offer International Merit Scholarships (IMS) exclusively for international students. These are based entirely on GPA in amounts of $4K (3.25-3.49), $8K (3.50-3.74), and $16K (3.75-4.0). You do not need to apply for the IMS as you are automatically eligible once you are admitted. 

Academically over 300 programs of study are offered at the bachelor, masters, and doctoral levels. Many of our programs have earned national and, sometimes, international recognition for excellence. A highly trained and dedicated group of faculty members not only prepare our students for their first job, but for careers that might not yet exist. Gaining a comprehensive education, instead of only specializing in one skill that could become less important a decade or two from now, that prepares students to handle diverse challenges of the job market.

MTSU offers one of the best Recording Industry Management programs in the country, with a strong reputation in business, nursing, and mass communication, and a lasting commitment to the sciences and liberal arts. MTSU also offers one of the largest Aerospace programs with a fleet of more than 65 aircrafts. In its earliest days, MTSU was a teachers’ college and still educates more teachers than any university in Tennessee. Other signature programs for international students include Business, Finance, Accounting, Communication, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Actuarial Science, Tourism, and Nursing.

Many of our programs are developed with industry partners to ensure that our curriculum fits the needs of the job market and provide our students with experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom. International Students are encouraged to participate in the OPT and OPT STEM Extension programs providing hands-on experience which often results in job offers from those same companies. 

Middle Tennessee State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees.
